Regulations surrounding bisphenol-A seem to be around the corner in Canada according to a CBC news report. Health Canada will label the product as "endangering people and the environment" and could pave the way for strict regulation or an outright ban. Some Canadian retailers are voluntarily removing products from the shelves and will be providing refunds on some products such as water bottles. I have written about BPA several times (1,2,3,4,5 that I could find).
It looks like the debate surrounding the product has either become resolved or the issue is politically sensitive enough for something to be done. However, BPA is not the first, nor will it be the last, dangerous product out there that is relatively unknown to the public. Many other products are out there and people need to start asking questions about the and bring the facts to light. BPA is an example of what can happen once we start posing questions to the people who can address the issues. Always remember that government works for you and you have the authority and obligation to ask questions and make changes.

Bottles with the # 7 in a triangle are being STUDIED. Several studies in fact.
There has not been an OFFICIAL recall, but people are being warned of the effects.
I would still be very concerned, as bottles are not the only issue.

I think in Canada they are beyond the study stage and will have bans in place after a public consultation period. I believe that is standard for most new regulations. The real message is that stores are voluntarily taking it off the shelves b/c nobody is buying it anymore. That shows that consumers have the power and if we demand better the supply will respond.
