Electronics for the Holidays

If you plan on giving electronics as gifts for the holiday season this year think about what might happen to the old stuff.

I have written about this in the past where you can donate your old electronics or recycle them.

I'm a windsurfer, a great green sport using naural wind power. But our equipment's made from toxic materials and hard t recycle. A real dilemma and there are not many solutions to the technology that is required to stop us havng such awful materials in our equipement - not unless we take the level of technological advancements we have in our gear back 20 or 30 years.

You can see the ice melting in front of your very eyes at my latest post.
great blog and well done for spreading the word

Thanks for all your comments! They are really appreciated - I am sure all of you fellow bloggers would agree.

Recycling is very important. And proper disposal of these types of products is critical. My hope is that some day most products will be from recycled / biodegradable material. Unfortunately, not everything will /can be.

Brian, you have given me an idea for a post. Thanks. I was not aware of that. Hopefully someone can come up with a solution.

I have never, as I can recall, thrown away any electronics. I have kept old .. things. Whether it be seen as junk or not in other people's views. Well yes, I may be a bit junkkeeper but to the fact, it has always felt against me, to throw away electronic parts. Of course there have been environmental aspects considered but I have always wished to repair things and I also have done so. And I could say I´ve always had some old fascination"feelings" for electronics, a respect for it how I think it should be treated, not as garbage. I have respect for it, for me it feels kind of dishonoring this old fascination.
How can people throw awy entire computers? Why not separate the plastic or metal housings in order to recycle that faster, and locally. And why not give away comnputers that actually work to people who don´t have any money?
Earlier this year, by 11-year old son saw a 12'' tv in a garbage container outside. I though, would I even dare to pick that assumed junk, to try if it may work. But we did, and the tv was ok! How can someone throw away a functional tv?!
People are strange and sadly too many people!

I have a site, www.NatureReports.com that I am redesigning for the moment. I found some info here that I may include.

I'm dealing with the same topics of environmental change on my blog and it seems like we have very different views on the problems and solutions that we as a people are facing. For more information on the topic of global warming awareness please jump over to my site.
