Washing the Green Out of Your Pocket

Greenwashing has been spreading in the last few years. Just about every product or service is advertising an environmentally friendly angle. A story on TreeHugger takes the cake. The writer went to a movie theater and had a green surcharge added to the ticket price. That's remarkable. Maybe we as customers can start taking discounts on what we buy because we find it is not green.

Comapanies in Australia also 'greenwash'. They can get away with it because larger companies and corporations have so much power over governments and the governmeants are reluctant to upset them. What we need are strict laws on "green claims".

I don't think Australia is alone in that regard. I think regulations in general are written to protect profits rather than citizens.
