A new way to support green businesses

On Wired.com they have an article about people doing a "mob" shopping event to support a business with the extra proceeds to be used for energy efficient renovations. The organization is called Carrotmob.

I think this is a good idea. Many small businesses will have a hard time financing such renovations despite government grants and tax incentives. This is also part of a larger solution in modifying consumption patterns to support those stores and products that will reduce the impact on the environment. Fundamentally, we need to reduce our consumption but anything that we can do along the way is a good idea.
