The press release makes it official. Canada plans to regulate toxic chemicals. Many of these are used by Canadians on a daily basis. My favorite quote is this from the CBC
The chemicals in these products don't pose an immediate threat, Harper said, but some could be harmful if allowed to accumulate in the body over a long period.
"There are clearly products on the shelves today that, while they don't pose an immediate threat to human health, we are concerned, over time, they will pose a threat," Harper said.
I am happy that has been said publicly. The government also has a website with more information. My hope is that industry will be forced to come up with safer alternatives as a result of regulation and testing.
