How much has really changed?

A lot of people are excited about the new direction to be taken in the US Congress now that the Democrats have won control. Naturally we would believe that changes would come in energy policy. However, as we see here the new Democratic chair of the House Energy Committee will not support increased fuel efficiency standards for automobiles and supports nuclear plants. Sounds much different than the Republican platform...
